Sustainability Standard

World Federation of International Speedsoft Sport (WFISS)

1. Purpose

This standard outlines WFISS’s commitment to sustainability across all aspects of the sport—events, operations, gear, and global development. As a federation that promotes innovation and tactical discipline, we recognize our responsibility to minimize environmental impact while sustaining the sport’s future.

2. Scope

This applies to all WFISS operations, affiliated organizations, events (local to international), sanctioned venues, and manufacturing or commercial partnerships.

3. Guiding Principles
  • Responsibility Over Optics: Sustainability isn’t about image, it’s about action and accountability.
  • Reduce Environmental Footprint: Limit waste, emissions, and resource consumption wherever possible.
  • Promote Circular Practices: Reuse, repurpose, and recycle, don’t replace what doesn’t need to be.
  • Future-Proof the Sport: Encourage practices that keep Speedsoft viable and accessible for future generations.
4. Core Sustainability Commitments
4.1 Events & Tournaments
  • Implement zero-single-use plastic policies at all WFISS-sanctioned events.
  • Require waste separation and recycling stations on-site.
  • Promote public or shared transport to events; encourage venue proximity to transit options.
  • Offset travel-related carbon emissions for international events through verified programs.
4.2 Equipment & Materials
  • Endorse and prioritise the use of biodegradable BBs and non-toxic materials in gameplay.
  • Discourage over-packaging and disposable promotional materials (banners, wristbands, etc.).
  • Certify equipment suppliers based on their environmental policies and production practices.
4.3 Facilities & Infrastructure
  • Encourage venue partners to utilise renewable energy sources, where feasible.
  • Require energy-efficient lighting and systems in indoor arenas.
  • Recommend modular, mobile staging and reusable field components to minimise construction waste.
4.4 Supply Chain and Merchandising
  • Vet vendors and partners for ethical sourcing, labor transparency, and minimal environmental impact.
  • Design and sell merchandise with longevity and recyclability in mind—ditch fast-fashion for good.
  • Implement digital-first strategies (e.g., digital programs, QR codes) to reduce paper use.
4.5 Education & Culture
  • Integrate sustainability briefings into all major events, especially for teams and staff.
  • Promote awareness campaigns on environmental responsibility within the Speedsoft community.
  • Recognise and reward teams or organisations leading in sustainable innovation.
5. Compliance and Monitoring
  • All sanctioned events must submit a Sustainability Compliance Checklist prior to approval.
  • Annual review of sustainability performance by WFISS Executive Committee.
  • Random audits of equipment and facility vendors to ensure continued compliance.
  • Non-compliant events, vendors, or organisers may face sanctions or disaffiliation.

7. Final Word

Speedsoft isn’t just about fast action, it’s about precision. That same precision must apply to how we use resources and shape the future. A sustainable Speedsoft community isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. WFISS will lead by example and hold its global family to the same high standard.
